“The NLMSF is providing valuable support to the leiomyosarcoma patient community with its collaborative patient education symposia across the USA, in the UK, and Canada. The LMS Research Work Group at MD Anderson appreciated the patient program opportunity with the NLMSF, and future LMS research support will be important.”

The National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation (NLMSF) was founded on July 14, 2001 and exists today as a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization and a member of the GuideStar Exchange (Silver Participant). The Foundation continues to be dedicated to general sarcoma and specific LMS research projects that have been evaluated to show the potential for advancing LMS treatment breakthroughs.

The Foundation is proud to have a dedicated Board and Medical Advisory Committee comprised of internationally recognized sarcoma and leiomyosarcoma researchers.

Our Vision:

  • Empower patients to learn as much as possible about leiomyosarcoma  (LMS) and self-advocate
  • Promote LMS research by raising community awareness of LMS as a rare form of cancer
  • Build funding resources through outreach and networking efforts in communities throughout the US and abroad

Our Mission:

  • Partner with cancer research centers to provide annual  patient education symposium series programs throughout the US
  • Encourage patient advocacy with researcher and patient support groups–working together for LMS research efforts
  • Promote LMS research funding for projects that have the potential to extend patient survival
