Anna Marmo (January 31, 1939 to August 3, 3020)
It is with great sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Anna Marmo – beautiful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother (Nonna). After her cancer came back in 2015 we knew it was going to be a tough fight and long journey. Many of you know Anna had her right kidney removed due to a large tumor on her kidney bean in 2008 and after her surgery was cancer free for 7 years. Anna fought hard and never gave up hope. At times she gave us hope when we felt defeated, and she was the one with the cancer. The last 5 months she suffered terribly and she fought to the very end as we knew she would. We did everything to keep her comfortable and be by her side every day. We would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhattan and Commack for their optimism and encouragement on this journey and using more science and less fear like their slogan states. But in the end leiomyosarcoma cancer won. Leiomyosarcoma is a rare soft tissue cancer. Research for this cancer is underfunded and currently different treatments are used to prolong the patients life but there is no cure. If you would like to make a donation which will help with research to find a cure, please visit: National LeioMyoSarcoma Foundation
Another thank you to Good Shepherd Hospice nurses and Aids who helped provide the care she needed in her final months. A great many thanks and appreciation to relatives and friends who called, texted, sent cards and gifts. Your thoughtfulness and support helped Anna and us get through these past few months. Anna is survived by her husband Daniele Marmo, daughters Carmen Marmo-Savinetti & Daniela Marmo, grandchildren Luke & Ava Savinetti, son-in-law Lyle Savinetti, and her sister Nicolina Rescinito Faiella. Our hearts are broken in a million little pieces and we will never be the same. Rest In Peace our beautiful angel.
