CURE MEDIA GROUP TEAMS WITH NATIONAL LEIOMYOSARCOMA FOUNDATION
AND NATIONAL COALITION FOR CANCER SURVIVORSHIP
IN ADVOCACY SPOTLIGHT PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM
Partnership expands advocacy and empowerment for patients fighting cancer
PLAINSBORO, N.J. (November 1, 2016) — CURE Media Group, the nation’s leading digital and print media enterprise focused on cancer patients, cancer centers and advocacy groups, today expanded its Advocacy Spotlight Partnership by teaming with the National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship.
“CURE’s Advocacy Spotlight Partnership is focused on empowering and encouraging patients, families and their caregivers,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president Michael J. Hennessy Associates, Inc. (MJH).
“We are proud to stand with these two advocacy champions: The National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation providing crucial support for those facing these rare conditions, and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship providing a strong voice for anyone whose life has been touched by cancer.”
CURE Media Group’s offerings also include online resources, live meetings, recognition events; and a resource guide for the newly diagnosed. CURE Media Group combines science and humanity to make cancer understandable.
Founded in 2001, the National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation is dedicated to the notion that knowledge equals patient power and works to help patients learn as much as possible about leiomyosarcoma (LMS) so they can self-advocate. Leiomyosarcoma is a relatively rare form of soft tissue sarcomas. About 12,020 new soft tissue sarcomas are diagnosed each year.
The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, founded in 1986 by and for cancer survivors, has replaced the notion of “cancer victim” with “cancer survivor”—including family, friends and caregivers.
NCCS has worked with legislators and policymakers to represent cancer patients and survivors in efforts to improve their quality of care and quality of life after diagnosis.
“These partners shared our commitment to promoting advocacy by providing reliable and up-to-date information,” Hennessey said. “The Advocacy Spotlight Partnership continues to expand to meet the needs of our community.”
NLMSF is dedicated to ensuring LMS research is fully supported and raising awareness of LMS as a rare form of cancer. The Foundation hosts multiple patient/family/caregiver education symposia through the year. The Foundation also supports and funds promising LMS research. an annual patient education symposium series, provides patient education opportunities and support, collaborates with cancer research centers throughout the United States, UK and Canada, and advocates on issues affecting research, treatment advancements, clinical trials, and drug development.
